How Much Should Kids Run?
Running can be a great, healthy activity for kids. Youth track or cross-country teams provide social and fun environments, and offer a team environment with the opportunity for individual success (but without the pressures some kids feel in other team sports). For children who do other sports, running offers great supplemental fitness. But with well-known events like the Chicago Marathon having a minimum age requirement of 16, and the Boston Marathon’s age requirement of 18, we have to wonder: How much is too much?
